CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest 2021
The annual national inter-school CCCC Cryptic Crossword Contest, which is popular as CCCC, is geared up to have its current year’s edition. Keeping in mind the pandemic situation still prevailing across the country, we have to tread with caution. We, therefore, are going into the game with a hybrid plan.
The current edition, CCCC 9.0, is envisaged to have an online-offline format. While the initial stage will be conducted in an online mode, there will be a window for an offline climax if the situation becomes conducive for it.
The outline of the contest plan, to be carried between July-end and November-December 2021 and split into two phases, is as under:
In Phase I, CCCC 9.0 will comprise two competitive Online Rounds preceded by an Online Practice Round
The competitive Online Rounds will be held on 31st July 2021 and 1st August 2021. The Practice Round will be held on 25th July 2021.
The rounds will involve solving the crossword puzzle grid which will be posted at 1400 Hours IST on www.crypticsingh.comunder the head ‘CCCC 9.0–Practice Round/Round I/Round II’
School teams will be required to submit their solutions by 1700 Hours IST on the same day
In Phase II, teams will be shortlisted for Face-to-Face Online Rounds and Grand Finale
The offline Grand Finale is tentatively scheduled to be held in November/December 2021 at New Delhi. It would be subject to the conditions prevailing in view of the corona virus pandemic.
How to get into the contest
CCCC 9.0 is a team contest. A school team comprises two students from the same school but they may belong to different classes. Single-student entries may also be permitted under special circumstances, subject to conditions.
The contest is open to students of Std VII to XII studying in schools affiliated to any of the recognized school boards in India
A school team must register to be part of the contest
The registration will be free of cost and can be done on www.crypticsingh.com. The same will remain open till the start of Round 2 (1400 Hours of 1st August 2021)
PRIZES and CERTIFICATES
All teams which have participated in any of the rounds in Phase I will receive certificates. City winners and runners up will receive prizes besides the certificates.
The national winners (team) will receive a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and the National Interschool Crossword Champion trophy
The runner-up team will receive a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy
The 2nd runner-up team will receive a cash prize of Rs 11,000 and a trophy
